We hope you all are staying warm with the possible snow coming our way! For us at the Heritage House, the new year has brought a lot of planning, planning, planning and prepping, prepping, prepping.
A few things you can look forward to this year:
- New research tools to browse our collection, along with the Lake Oswego Public Library's collection
- An all-new art and heritage exhibit highlighting the Vietnamese experience in the area, created and shared by a local family
- Published transcriptions and annotations on the Oregon Iron & Steel Company records, in collaboration with the Lake Oswego Preservation Society
- Expanded educational programs for youths, including in conjunction with the Scouts of America and local Girl Scout troops
- Fun events for you to experience history in new ways
- ...And so much more!
This year, we're focused on the importance of history: studying it, researching it, sharing it, and making it easier to access for everyone. History is a dynamic field, shifting as we learn more and ask new questions; local history, especially, is a conversation with our community. If there are topics you're curious or excited about, please reach out to us and let us know! Feedback drives us forward!

Join us on Saturday, February 15th, from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM for our annual meeting! Discover how the Oswego Heritage Council did in 2024, learn more about our archival projects, and engage with your fellow community members at this event. There will be treats and coffee available.
Liz Hartman, Executive Director of the Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce, will be introducing the program with a brief talk.
While meant to update our member base, this meeting is open to the public.
We will share more details about our 2024 Annual Report at our annual meeting on February 15th, but here's a sneak peak...

Step back in time to the 1920s, when the music was big and the booze was illegal! There will be live jazz music, light dining, and for those willing to bend the rules, for those who have the secret invite, a burlesque show in our speakeasy soiree. Don your skirts that fall above your ankles, put on your best suits and biggest hats, and be prepared for a night of vices, history, and fun.
